History

The village was established in 1963 when T. William Fernando, then Mayor of Nuwara Eliya, pursued his passion for founding new villages. His aim was to resettle the Sinhala community in the area. He sought to reclaim lands that had been overtaken by tea estates and occupied by migrant Indian Tamil tea workers. Although his efforts largely failed, he succeeded in creating 18 new villages, including Eagles Viewpoint, thereby leaving a lasting mark on history.
